| How to Choose A DJ |
|
I will not bore you with pages of
information to digest...here is a simple version, because I know you have a lot
to do.
KEY POINT: Everything can be perfect, but if the music isn't good, the party will fizzle. POINTS Hire a DJ you've already seen Ask your friends for referrals Look in the Yellow Pages and use the internet - but be careful, as there are people who have become skilled at "selling" to you... How do you choose? The worse option is based on price alone. Think about what the impact of having bad entertainment is with respect to the success of your event. Prices for qualified DJs range based on experience, reputation, etc. "One size fits all" does not apply here. Expect to talk to the DJ, not just a booking agent. Does this DJ care about 'Your' event, or booking a job? Ask for references (usually 3-6). Ask about request policy and music styles. Does the DJ play the style of music that you expect for your event? If you like the phone conversation, request a personal meeting. Be sure that you are comfortable with the DJ. There is nothing worse than having to do business with someone that you do not like.
